What lies in the definition of a word? Undoubtedly, this is a question that has been posed countless times by countless people, spanning thousands of years. I will offer you my explanation, which is quite simple; a definition functions solely as a way for you to understand a word. This in many ways is synonymous to my view of what is conventionally considered the "big picture," but that's something I'll delve into elsewhere. If you try to find a definition for "paranoia," just about any modern dictionary will offer you the same thing: a mental disorder, or psychosis, tending towards irrational suspicion of others.

As for my interpretation, however, I've looked more deeply into the word, and I feel a preface is necessary. First off, "para-," originates from the Greek word para, meaning 'beside' or 'beyond.' Next, "-noia," comes from the Greek word nous, meaning 'mind' or 'intelligence.' For my application, with these very basic syllabic translations, I have taken them to offer the definition of "the mind aside itself," or in other terms, utmost objectivity- not the modern consideration for one being "out of their mind," or having a disorder. I am in fact a paranoiac, as well as I can be- and that is the only thing that I will ever urge upon anyone; to simply present your mind as a clean slate, to take into consideration anything, all bias aside.

Objectivity can be quite hard to grasp, and in essence we can never achieve true objectivity as we are subject to elements of this universe as we know it and cannot take into consideration things which we not only do not understand, but are not (yet) aware of. So, in closing, that is my offering to you, and dually my request from you: be as objective as you can, and don't be reluctant to consider anything in life. Consideration can bring you no harm. Moreover, as almost any educator will tell you, the only poor question is the one that remains unasked; questions of life and spirituality are no exception. With that, I bid you farewell from this introduction, and I hope that you will find something here that may help you grow and learn.
